Three Church Mutual promotions involve officers
MERRILL, Wis. (March 24, 2015) — Rick Schaber and Rod Flanders have been named new officers at Church Mutual Insurance Company. Schaber is the new Assistant Vice President – Direct Sales and Flanders Assistant Vice President – Broker Distribution.
In addition, Vice President – Broker/Specialty Markets Mark Steinberg is being promoted to Vice President – Chief Sales Officer. He is now responsible for all sales distribution channels at the 118-year-old property and casualty insurance company.
Following an extensive newspaper career, Schaber came to Church Mutual in April 1999 as Advertising/Communications Specialist in Sales and Marketing. He was promoted to Corporate Communications Manager in January 2002. In June 2005, Schaber was promoted to Risk Control Manager in Risk Management. He became Senior Corporate Project Manager in Administration in January 2011 and was promoted to CMIC Specialty Services Manager in January 2013.
Schaber holds the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU), Certified Risk Manager (CRM) and Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) designations.
Flanders began his career with Wausau Insurance Companies as a direct agent in 1987. He held positions of increasing responsibility in sales management, training and managed care with that company and Liberty Mutual. His last position there was training manager of national programs.
Flanders came to Church Mutual in August 2010 to become Director – Agency Operations for the Broker/Specialty Markets division.
He holds the CPCU, Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) and Associate in Risk Management (ARM) designations. He also holds the Certified Employee Benefit Specialist (CEBS) designation from the International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans and the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
Steinberg joined Church Mutual as Special Accounts Manager in 2009 and became Broker/Agent Division Manager in 2010. He was promoted to Assistant Vice President – Broker/Specialty Markets in 2012 and then to Vice President – Broker/Specialty Markets in 2013.
He began his career at Wausau Insurance Companies, where he held expanding roles of account representative, field sales manager, regional sales manager, vice president – marketing, vice president – sales business center, senior vice president and general manager – sales business center and president.
Steinberg has earned the CPCU designation and is an Accredited Advisor in Insurance (AAI).
Church Mutual is rated A (Excellent) by industry rating analyst A.M. Best. It insures more than twice as many religious organizations as its nearest competitor.
