Insurance Coverages

Especially for Senior Living Communities

Church Mutual insures assisted living facilities, retirement centers, and apartments for the elderly.

Church Mutual has been insuring senior living communities for more than 35 years. We understand the unique demands you face every day and we understand your insurance needs.

Strong presence in religious market led Church Mutual to senior living communities.

We started in the insurance business in 1897 as one of the first insurers of religious organizations. Today, Church Mutual is the largest insurer of worship centers and related institutions in the United States. Our strong presence in the religious market led us into the senior living market in the 1970s.

Recent focus on senior living communities.

In 1998, Church Mutual rededicated and reorganized its efforts to better serve senior living communities; specifically assisted living facilities, retirement centers, and apartments for the elderly.

Specialized staff and coverages.

We formed a specialty team that includes loss control support from property experts, underwriting, and sales and service personnel. New property and liability coverage forms were developed for assisted living facilities and retirement homes.

Eight reasons why Church Mutual might be a good choice for you.

If your operation is within one or more of these states, here are eight reasons why you might want to place your trust in Church Mutual:

Personal service. You'll receive personal service from specialized insurance professionals who are supported by knowledgeable customer service experts and senior living specialists.

Comprehensive and specialized coverage. We offer property, general liability, professional liability, employment practices liability, employee benefits liability, workers' compensation, auto, and umbrella liability insurance. The property and liability coverages are designed specifically for the exposures of assisted living facilities and apartments for seniors. More coverage detail.

Loss control services. Our representatives will work with you to help reduce your chances of property damage, general and professional liability claims, and employee injuries.

Church Mutual publishes Risk Reporter for Senior Living Communities, a quarterly risk management newsletter. You do not need to be a customer to subscribe to this free newsletter. You can view and print all issues online or subscribe to receive your copy by traditional mail.

To keep safety on the minds of your employees, Church Mutual offers posters that address the most common causes of injury in senior living communities: lifting and slips/falls. You can view these and other posters online or order them for delivery via traditional mail.

Online claims reporting. Although most customers prefer to report claims to one of our claims service representatives by phone, we do offer an online option. It's easy and convenient, and you can report claims any time of day or night. More about online claims reporting.

Rewards for safety. Church Mutual offers a generous loss sensitive workers' compensation dividend plan that rewards safely operated facilities. The entry threshold for this dividend plan is just $5,000 per year in workers' compensation premium--within the reach of most assisted living facilities. For facilities with workers' compensation premiums under $5,000, we offer a flat dividend of up to 15%. Of course, dividends are declared by the company's board of directors and cannot be guaranteed in advance.

Low-cost payment plans. Low-cost payment plans are available in most states.

Financial strength. Church Mutual backs its coverage with an enviable record of financial stability. A.M. Best Company has awarded Church Mutual a rating of A (Excellent). More financial information.

No-cost, no-obligation insurance needs analysis and proposal of coverage to qualifying facilities. It will be designed specifically for your facility. It is ideal to use as a benchmark when reviewing your present coverages. To request this service or for more information, follow this link or contact:
